HOW TO JOIN

You are very welcome to join us at a club event before deciding if you want to be a member. For example you could try out a club run which would give you an opportunity to chat to club members and, if you haven't done so already, experience the benefits of group riding. Another option is try a time trial.

INSURANCE

It is strongly recommended that members obtain third party insurance cover, this can be purchased commercially or some cycling organisations (e.g. CTC, LVRC and BC) may included it in certain categories of membership.

British Cycling membership can be obtained at a discount using reference: NEWCMRA

Please note - There is a common misconception that members are covered on club runs via British Cycling affiliation, it is actually the club and organising officials that are insured against public liability but BC specifically exclude claims from our own club members and guest riders.

Club Runs

We organise Sunday club runs throughout the year and there are generally four separate groups, 12-14, Moderate, Intermediate and Hard, there are also rides on Tuesdays. Details of all the groups are available on the Club Runs Schedule page accessed from the main menu. Prospective members are welcome to join us for two club runs before joining. The Club Runs Schedule page also provides access to New Rider Information and our CLUB RUN ETIQUETTE, to ensure a pleasant and safe ride, we request that you familiarise yourself with this information before you ride with us.

Time Trials

We hold Thursday night time trial from April through to October the details of which can be viewed on the Time trial Prog. & Results page under the Racing heading of main menu. If you are new to time trialling why not give it a try, our evening series are registered "come and try it" events so you can ride one before the governing body CTT require you to become a member of an affiliated club. You don't have to be super-fast to ride time trials as you are competing against the clock and targeting your own PB (of course human nature always makes you check out the performances of others and that's when you get hooked). Many serious riders use aero equipment but riding a standard road bikes is fine in fact we have a Road Bike League to encourage this.

If you decide to join our club there are various Trophies, championships and leagues associated with our evening events including handicap events.

Road Racing and Cyclo-Cross

We have a number of members that enter road races (inc. circuit events) and cyclo-cross. To enter this type of event you will first need to join the club or any other British Cycling (BC) affiliated club and apply for a BC racing licence. So you will need to get started before you consider this.

Club Kit

We have an attractive club kit that is worn by the majority of members. The club kit can be purchase from our on-line shop http://www.halosports.co.uk/coventry-road/ your will receive details of the password when you join.
